Principal’s Corner

Dear ASCE Families,

Welcome back, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! There are several exciting events beginning this month. Our 3rd—5th grade basketball teams begin their games, we are starting Lego Club, and we have Catholic Schools Week at the end of the month.
Lego Club is for students in E5– 5th grade and will be held in Wednesdays (1/18, 1/25. 2/1. and 2/8) 3:00pm—4:00pm. During Lego Club students will stay within their grade and have an opportunity to work with Legos. Early fives—first grade students will free build, second– fifth grade students will work with Lego kits. We are in need of 4 more volunteers to help with Lego club. Thank you to the STEAM event for funding the purchase of Legos and Lego kits.
Catholic Schools Week (1/29/23—2/4/23) is an annual celebration that focuses on the value Catholic education provides to our students and the wonderful impact it has on our community, looking forward to seeing what 2023 holds in store for All Saints Elementary!

Many Blessings,
Mrs. Rhodus

Prayer

Lord God, You have brought us to this day as a gift of great value. Let it be for us a day of rejoicing. In the quiet of our hearts and the work of this day, be with us Lord, now and forever. Amen.
Hardensen, Karla. (1991). Children’s Daily Prayer. Liturgy Training Publications

Virtue of the Week: Self-Control

During morning prayer on Monday, January 9 we will introduce the virtue: Self-Control
Joyful mastery over one’s passions and desires. Self-control looks like raising your hand before talking in class, walking in a straight line, being silent when you are tempted to say something mean, listening to others when they are speaking and not interrupting, keeping your hands to yourself, and trying to stay focused on your school work.

Report Cards

Be sure to check your child’s book bag for report cards on Monday, January 9, 2023.

Family Sports Passes

Family passes are available for purchase in the office for the ASCE basketball and volleyball season. They are $30.00 each and will get you and your immediate family into both the home and away games. Admission prices will be $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students, per league rules for those without a pass.

Cold Weather Reminder

Please be sure your child(ren) is prepared everyday with the appropriate clothing for outside temperatures. The students go outside daily for recess and/or gym. They are outside unless it is raining or the “feels like” temperature is below 10 degrees. If you are in need of any of these items please contact the school office.
Students need to wear the proper attire everyday, such as:
• COATS
• BOOTS
• SNOWPANTS
• HATS
• GLOVES

Parish Info and Mass Opportunities

With the decline of young families attending church and with so much evil and hate in this world today, we need God now more than ever. It is our responsibility as Catholics to go to church weekly. By doing so, we set good examples for our children and do our part to lead them in the direction of Christ our Savior. Attending church as a family is so important and rewarding. It helps to create a special bond between you and God and between your family members. Children need to know and understand the importance of going to church consistently and having a relationship with God. There are many Mass options to accommodate busy lifestyles. So please take a little time out of your busy lives each week to grow closer to God and to enjoy Mass as a family.
