January 2023: ASC Middle/High School Monthly Newsletter

All Saints Catholic nurtures academic and personal excellence in all students while emphasizing Catholic values and service to others in Christ’s name.

Volume 4, Issue 5

Dear Families,

This newsletter was prepared for you with much care. We are sorry for the late publishing date. We were waiting on a few changes and updates! Thank you for your patience and for the support you give to our students, staff, and community!

A Note from Sister Maria José, RSM…

Dear All Saints Families,

Blessed New Year! I pray that you were able to enter into the peace and joy that Christ’s birth brought to our world. It is amazing to think that we are still in the Christmas Season. So much has happened in the last month: students sat their Semester Exams, our students participated in the Christmas Concert, Ms. Levack, Ms. Goik finished up with us and Mr. Wetters has moved into a new role. We thank them for their service to our school. I know that All Saints Catholic has good friends in them and although we will miss them dearly we hope to see them around.

As we begin our new Semester, I want to thank the Middle School Students, the Arts students and Biology students for their help in making Christmas gifts for our Parishes. Many in our School Community might not know it, but our parishes are our biggest supporters of All Saints. The generosity of Corpus Christi, Our Lady of Czestochowa, St Catherine of Sienna, Our Lady of Peace, St Jude Thaddeus and All Saints’ parishioners enable us to provide affordable Catholic Education. As a small token of our gratitude, students made Christmas ornaments and trees that can be used to teach Catechism classes about how the 12 Days of Christmas was used to teach children the treasures of the faith during times of persecution. We had a great time singing the carol and learning the hidden meaning of the symbols. It was a precious reminder that the good news of Jesus Christ begins with the love that has been given to us by God. And to discover that we are not only supported by our local Churches but that we can contribute to their good through our gifts and talents. Thank you, students and teachers, I look forward to discovering new ways in which we can build relationships between our school and our parishes.

In Christ Jesus,

Sister Maria José, RSM

News from Miss Zoe…

Dear ASC Families,

A primary aspect of being part of a Catholic school is the daily opportunities to pray together. The middle/high school daily prayers and the elementary school prayer of the week are now posted each day on the desktop version of our website homepage. We invite you to pray the prayers yourselves or with your families, so we as a community are all closely united in prayer each day.

Many of you know Miss Penny Turk, who worked in the counseling office for a number of years until this school year. She has continued to take photos and post on our Facebook pages, doing a beautiful job sharing with you everything that is going on in both the middle/high and elementary schools. We are sad to say that as of January 2023, she has officially retired from running our Facebook pages. We are so blessed and thankful for her years of sharing her talents and heart with us in both buildings and on Facebook. Thank you, Penny!

Do you ever take photos at ASC events? If you have photos from elementary, middle, or high school events or activities, and you are open to them potentially being used on our Facebook page or website, please email them to zoe.robinson@ascbaycity.org! Thank you!

God bless,

Zoe Robinson

News From Ms. Wisniewski…

Sports News and Notes…

Happy New Year to all of our wonderful All Saints families and friends. The excitement and anticipation to make the upcoming year our best ever is always an
exciting time. Our boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are already off to a thrilling start to the season. The boys and girls bowling teams also had their first contest just before Christmas.

Some of our hardest working student athletes are members of the Dance and Pom teams. This talented group of wonderful young ladies have entertained our
crowds at halftime for years. I always enjoy watching the visiting crowd’s reaction to our girls’ routines. Amy Dishaw, Sara, and Jill Anderson do a tremendous job with our girls.

Just a quick reminder to players and parents:
If you play 30 minutes, Go All Out.
If you play 15 minutes, Go All Out.
If you play 5 minutes, Go All Out.
If you play 1 minute, Go All Out.
If you didn’t get in, Go All Out. Being the most vocal person, outworking everyone, at practice, and cheering on your teammates is what gets a coach’s attention.
Go Make a Difference, because nothing in life is handed to you. Earn It.

God bless Cougar Nation

Cougar Corp News…

I want to thank all the All-Saints Catholic families who helped make our K-8 Christmas program fun and exciting. I am so grateful for the support of over 500
people at St Stans. This was an excellent reward for the effort and work our ASC student musicians have put into their practice and studies over the semester. Keep an eye out for our Cougar Corp musicians as they will prepare music to play at some upcoming basketball games. Enjoy your Christmas holiday and may the peace and light of Christ always guide your way.

Musically in Christ,

Todd Bethune
ASC band and music director

Notes from Dinah…

Thanks to everyone for helping with our Christmas families.

Please return all sold and unsold raffle tickets! Thanks for selling/buying the tickets. It’s our school’s largest fundraiser.

Have a blessed Christmas and the best in 2023.

Stay safe.
