Michael Boucher credits his time at St. James (not All Saints Catholic) for his success and wanted to salute the staff.
A Salute to the Dedicated Faculty of Bay City St. James Catholic High School 1966
Catholic podcaster, Lisa Mladnick, was interviewing me for the YouTube video, The importance of Outdoorsmanship for Boays, when she asked what prompted me to complete training in mountaineering/ survival with Outward Bound, paddle many miles on wilderness rivers, and ultimately publish a young adult adventure novel, The Snipe Hunters Deadly Catch at Muskrat Creet (2022). My mind was flooded with teachers and classroom scenes from St. James; a faculty that had directed my attention to the likes of Henry David Thoreau, inspired me to rehabilitate a poor start into a respectable finish, and had, in light of my inability to pay for college (I was bound for the U.S. Navy as my father had died in 1960) assured my mother that they could find me a scholarship. Exactly seventy-two hours before the military papers were to be submitted, Sr. Thomas Miriam made the scholarship announcement.
Hence, I made another contribution to the All Saints Scholarship fund so that future students can also benefit from a Christ-Centered Catholic Education. I made the contributions in honor of these dedicated faculty members:
- Irma Anschultz, Latin
- Michael Cauchy, Biology
- Stanley Garson, Business
- Sr. Thomas Miriam, Administration
- Joan Navarre, Counseling
With unending gratitude for the life they made possible, Michael Boucher, Class of 1966
